Casing Design

Vertically split casing, also referred to as a radially split casing.
Horizontally split casing, also referred to as an axially split casing

A pressure-containing casing used in centrifugal compressors and pumps that comes in several designs, based on the gas being compressed and the maximum design pressure. The two most common are the horizontally split casing, or axially split casing, and vertically split casing, or radially split casing. These designs allow the rotors to be removed for maintenance.
