Condition-Based Maintenance (CBM)

A strategy based on measuring the condition of equipment to assess whether it will fail during some future period and taking appropriate action to avoid the consequences of failure. The condition of equipment is monitored using a variety of objective technologies and through statistical process control techniques, by monitoring equipment performance, or by use of human senses.
