Critical Speed Map

A graphical plot of natural frequencies, operating speeds, and excitation frequencies. The intersections of excitation frequencies, radiating from the origin, and the horizontal natural frequencies are the critical speeds. Further analysis will determine whether enough energy exists at these critical speeds to damage system components, and if changes should be made to move, remove, or mitigate the effects of any such potentially damaging critical speeds.
