Dry Gas Seal

A set of non-contacting, dry-running mechanical face seals used in centrifugal pumps and centrifugal compressors that consist of a mating, or rotating, ring and a primary, or stationary, ring. The spiral grooves on the rotating seal face gas inward toward a non-grooved stationary seal face. The gas flowing across the faces generates a pressure that maintains a minute gap between the faces, optimizing fluid film stiffness and providing the highest possible degree of protection against face contact.
