Throwaway Maintenance

A variation of the run-to-failure approach. It differs in that the decision is made in advance that the corrective action on failure will always be replacement rather than repair. This is a common approach to maintenance of electronic components, which often exhibit random failure rates, and for which no repair is feasible.
