Combination Machine (Comp/Exp),  T

Turboexpander

A single-unit expander/compressor machine consisting of two primary components; the radial inflow expansion turbine and a centrifugal (booster) compressor. Its wheels are connected on a single shaft. The expansion turbine is the power unit and the compressor is the driven unit. Its primary function is to generate refrigeration in the process gas stream efficiently. This is done by the expansion turbine extracting the potential heat energy from the gas stream, causing it to cool dramatically.
