AGMA Gear Quality Number

In the US, the term “gear quality” is usually associated with a quality number based on American Gear Manufacturers Association (AGMA) criteria. However, a quality grade number is not a comprehensive indicator of every facet of the gear makeup but does provide a measure of the geometric gear teeth accuracy. The higher the gear quality number the tighter the dimensional tolerances become. There are numerous characteristics weighing on gear performance, and no single specification number covers them all.
