Creep Deformation (Metallurgy)

The continuing deformation of a metal under mechanical stress, which can occur due to long-term exposure to high levels of stress still below the yield strength of the material. Creep is more severe in materials that are subjected to high temperatures for long periods of time and generally increases as they near their melting point.
