D,  Signal Processing

Dynamic Range (Signal Processing)

The ratio between the smallest and largest signals measured by a signal processing system. Using the decibel (dB) scale, the dynamic range is the maximum dB signal level sustainable without overflow (or other distortion) minus the dB signal level of the “noise floor” for a given signal analyzer. Bandwidth compares to frequency as dynamic range compares to amplitude.
