Fan Laws

Note: Q is flow; D is diameter; N is speed; and bhp is brake horsepower. Subscript “1” denotes initial conditions and subscript “2” denotes new conditions.

A set of mathematical relationships used to estimate performance of a given fan or compressor design for a given change in speed or diameter. These laws only apply to changes of less than 10% from the original design conditions. See table of relationships below.
