Finite Element Analysis (FEA)
A method of obtaining an approximate solution to a complex engineering problem by subdividing the problem into smaller, more manageable, or finite elements. Using finite elements, complex partial differential equations describe the behavior of structures reduced to a set of linear equations that can be easily solved using the standard techniques of matrix algebra. The finite element method is used in most engineering disciplines. FEA methodology analyzes classical static structural problems, as well as mass transport, heat transfer, dynamics, stability, and radiation problems. Finite element analysis is the method of choice for optimizing new designs, verifying the fitness of existing facilities, predictive performance, and evaluating new concepts.
