Gap Voltage
The direct current component of the voltage signal read or displayed off a displacement probe proximitor. If a proximity probe is properly installed and calibrated, the magnitude of gap voltage is directly proportional to the distance between the proximity probe and the target. Gap voltage can be used to set the proper gap between a proximity probe and a metallic target, determine the relative position of a shaft within a radial bearing, or determine the axial position of a rotor relative to the thrust faces.
