Hydropad (Mechanical Seal)

The circumferential slots machined into one of the mechanical seal faces to suppress product flashing across the faces. Hydropad designs are useful in high-pressure applications where pressure tends to distort the seal faces, the face velocity increases heat generation, and sealing fluids have poor lubrication properties.
