Interlock (Controls)

In many process machinery applications, a control interlock helps prevent a machine from harming its operator or damaging itself by initiating a shutdown when a given process condition is present. (Example: A pump may be equipped with an interlock to force it to shut down when the suction liquid level is too low to prevent it from cavitating or running dry.)
