Lean Manufacturing

A universally accepted term for the incorporation of techniques, principally derived from the Toyota Production System, that serve to substantially reduce inventory and eliminate wastes inherent to conventional batch and queue production, such as scrap and rework. The process further addresses a vast reduction of non-value-added work, such as material handling, setup, and changeover, among other areas of potential waste and inefficiency.
