Mechanical Vibration

Mechanical vibration occurs when a mass-spring system moves repeatedly around its neutral position as a result of an external periodic force.

 

The periodic motion of a mechanical component or structure, such as a beam, piping span, bearing housing, rotating shaft, etc., due to either an internally or externally applied dynamic force. Mechanical vibration is commonly referred to simply as vibration.
