Muffler (Engines)

A device through which the exhaust gases from an internal combustion engine are passed to attenuate (reduce) the airborne noise created by the combustion process. In most cases, mufflers installed on natural gas engines also house the catalytic converter elements required to control exhaust emissions.

Also known as a Silencer.
