Pipe Schedule
A designation of a pipe product that relates to its wall thickness. In general, as the pipe schedule number increases, the thicker the wall thickness becomes.
Here are a few examples of how pipe schedules are related to pipe thickness:
Pipe size 1.000 in. (33.401 mm OD), Schedule 40 – The actual wall thickness is 0.133 in. (3.38 mm)
Pipe size 2.000 in. (60.325 mm OD), Schedule 40 – The actual wall thickness is 0.154 in. (3.91 mm)
Pipe size 1.000 in. (33.401 mm OD), Schedule 80 – The actual wall thickness is 0.179 in. (4.55 mm)
Pipe size 2.000 in. (60.325 mm OD), Schedule 80 – The actual wall thickness is 0.218 in. (5.54 mm)
