Fluid Flow,  P

Pitot Tube

A vertical tube measures the static pressure head. A tube pointing upstream (pitot tube) measures the static pressure head and dynamic pressure head. The difference between the total pressure head and static pressure head is the dynamic pressure head, which can be used to calculate the fluid’s speed relative to the pitot tube.

A measurement device used to record the static and the total pressures to determine a fluid’s speed relative to the device’s speed.
