The rate at which mechanical work is transmitted from a machine to another machine via a coupling, belt, or gear; or the rate at which work is done, energy transmitted per unit of time. The mechanical power (W) delivered by a rotating machine is equal to the torque (τ) times the rotation speed (ω):
