Repairable Component
Any hardware subcomponent of a larger system that was designed to be removed from service, repaired to serviceable condition, and then returned to service. Pumps, compressors, valves, and large electric motors are some examples of system subcomponents designed to be repaired after they degrade in service. Users specify repairable components when they believe that systems with repairable components will be more economical to maintain than those using non-repairable components.
