RICE NESHAP (Reciprocating Internal Combustion Engine National Emission Standards For Hazardous Air Pollutants)
A standard developed by the US Environmental Protection Agency to limit emissions of formaldehyde, acetaldehyde, acrolein, methanol, and nearly 200 other toxic compounds that are potential byproducts of engines using natural gas or diesel as a fuel source. The RICE NESHAP rules require implementation of new maintenance and reporting practices for existing stationary engines. In many cases existing engines will also require catalytic emission control retrofits.
