Rod Load
The combination of the gas and inertia loads transmitted to the crosshead pin in the direction of piston motion. Rod loads are continuously changing during every gas compression cycle; therefore, it is common to evaluate the rod loads versus crank angle at discrete steps (e.g. every 5 or 10 degrees) to determine their maximum values.
