R,  Reliability Theory

Run-To-Failure (RTF)

An equipment maintenance strategy in which no routine maintenance tasks are performed on the equipment. The only planned maintenance performed on the equipment is corrective maintenance after the equipment has suffered a failure. Run-to-failure is a conscious decision as opposed to breakdown maintenance.
