SSU

The abbreviation for Saybolt Seconds Universal. The most common viscosity measurement prior to the international acceptance of centiStokes (cSt). SSU measures are now obsolete. To convert measurements from SSU at 100°F to an approximate value in cSt at 40°C (ISO viscosity grade), divide the SSU value by 5.
