Velocity/Velocity Head

The portion of Bernoulli’s energy equation that defines the kinetic energy contained in a fluid stream.

Velocity head is defined by the following formula:

h = V²/2g

where h is the kinetic energy per unit mass of the fluid; V is the fluid velocity; and g is the acceleration due to gravity.
