Settle-Out Conditions (Centrifugal Compressor Design Term)

The equilibrium pressure and temperature reached after a centrifugal compressor is tripped. Equilibrium conditions after a trip are neither the compressor discharge conditions, nor the compressor suction conditions, but something in between. It may take 20 to 30 seconds for the entire system to reach final settle-out conditions. Both the maximum operating and settle-out conditions are used to properly design a centrifugal compressor system.
